the core downfall of mastodon is that every instance is an opportunity to censor potentially thousands of individuals on the grounds of vague reasons such as “in appropriate content”
their entire architecture is based around the idea that a single instance admin has the power to decide what its users are allowed to see, and you can’t easily move to another relay without rebuilding your social graph.
why people still use this protocol is mind boggling to me.
let users control their own feed ffs. Individuals and clients should have this power, not relay tinpot dictators.-

@alex @realcaseyrollins @fedi_block_bot @32e1827635450ebb3c5a7d12c1f8e7b2b514439ac10a67eef3d9fd9c5c68e245 Is it still the case that if the only shared instance between you and a follower blocks you, the follower won't receive any more notes from you until they (manually) check another relay / you send to another shared relay?
(Is this an implementation issue rather than a spec issue? I remember seeing fiatjaf mention this as a problem a few months back, but I haven't kept up with any proposals)
