   All that. Worth adding that both the Biden admin and many congressional Democrats did test the waters on voting rights, and it was so close — but not sufficient.

   The Senate sat at a very sharp partisan gradient when Dems held both houses: every single seat one direction or the other would have radically changed the outcomes.

     @chargrille @mekkaokereke The political capital (whatever that means to you) for voting rights didn’t exist. The political capital to get Manchin to do anything barely existed. It’s why everybody tuned into politics hated him at the time.

     Biden definitely could have done better on police brutality and malfeasance though. He didn’t partly because politicians are scared of the police in their own way.

     @chargrille @mekkaokereke It seems like a lot of people memory-holed this but the only way to pass voting rights legislation was to end the filibuster. Senators Manchin and Sinema weren’t going along with that. Getting an infrastructure bill through required using a reconciliation bill and even then Biden had to cut off a lot of it for Manchin to sign on.

     I have the strong impression that the people who are running the Democratic party are committing electoral malpractice on a number of different levels. I began to panic when they decided to dump the entirety of our legislative political capital on infrastructure instead of voting rights.

     🤔This is an article attempting to understand Black men voters' lack of enthusiasm for Biden... that doesn't include the word "police" once. Like, not even included once!

     Y'all aren't even pretending to listen.

     The article also repeats the lie that Black people didn't turn out for Hilary like they did for Obama, which is another not so veiled way of victim-blaming Black people for the most successful and egregious voter suppression campaign in modern US election history
