   kind of a goofy thing but you can record audio and then use the slicer to pick parts to assign to pads. neat.
   
   if you go in the drum kit editor it will say something like "recording0_s6" which seems to be a jumble for the slice number. if you poke this setting, it asks for a file to assign. i have no idea how to assign it to a slice again though. only how to create a drumpad from a sliced wav in the first place. :blobcatdunno:

     @picofarad sampling is very weak. i think weaker than the deluge. definitely weaker than the MPC One. no key zones, layers etc. instruments are one sample pitched around like a tracker. for some reason the boffins didn't include undo either.
     
     i mean its 450$ and runs off six AA batteries. i guess concessions had to be made compared to those other things (MPC is like 700$, Deluge is 1.4k, 1010 Blackbox is 650$.)

     @picofarad i still have my mpc one. i got it on a guitar center sale they probably regret having run :neocat_floof__w_: it was either that or a circuit tracks (i really wanted an op-1 but.. they were 1.3k back then...) but it was like 30% off any akai product but not novation.
     
     so i got the thing for like 300$ off :blobcatlaugh:

     @icedquinn I had an MPC but i got it used and didn't know someone had jammed the CF card in wrong and bent a bunch of pins. I tried to take it apart but that thing is built like a tank, tons of sheetmetal.

     @picofarad now that i have a jorb i have a gift budget so there are two people who might end up getting samplers later this year :neocat_melt: just not sure if it will be a big or smol one.
