djsumdog (djsumdog@djsumdog.com)'s status on Friday, 28-Oct-2022 15:09:47 JST djsumdog Outside is dangerous. It's filled with virus. You gotta wear your mask and take some shots that totally don't cause heart attacks (but if they do it's worth it to save granny).
Seriously though, getting on the other side of this era is going to take a few years ... honestly, and I'm being serious here, I don't think we'll see the end of it for a lot of people in our lifetimes. A good chunk of the people we knew who went crazy will still believe all the lockdowns and insanity was good, well into their 60s/70s .. maybe to their death beds. We'll still see occasional masks in the 1%~2% range well into 2025.arcanicanis likes this. -

Facebooks big innovation was the newsfeed. On Myspace people had to actually go to your profile to see what you posted. Facebook shoved it on their homepage. I wish the Next Big Thing would be going outside, hanging out at a cafe, something in person with no phones. My kids are teens and this world is so sad. -

djsumdog (djsumdog@djsumdog.com)'s status on Friday, 28-Oct-2022 15:09:50 JST djsumdog It's interesting how people can't seem to use multiple things anymore. There was a time when people went to 4 or 5 search engines, and find different things. People don't seem to want to use anything but one or two websites .. it's like they forgot (or never knew) the rest of the Internet existed.
Facebook wasn't any better than MySpace. It was less customizable, less personal, more bland .. and yet people seemed to prefer that over hamster dances and bright pink flaming under-construction GIFs.
It's ultimately going to be something that draws people away from Twitter rather than people losing the platform. I wonder what the Next Big Thing™ will be. -

Punished Crab (rustycrab@sleepy.cafe)'s status on Friday, 28-Oct-2022 15:09:53 JST Punished Crab @kroner @djsumdog @mrman I don't think I've ever seen lefties attempt a walled garden alt tech site. In general they have no need for one. I would have a hard time imagining what a user of that site would look like. 55k is probably a gross exaggeration if not wholly made up.
The righty alt tech sites suck because of boomers and a hyper focus on politics and literally nothing else. -

kroner (kroner@seal.cafe)'s status on Friday, 28-Oct-2022 15:09:54 JST kroner Wonder how successful it'll be ultimately because when rightoids do alt tech they generally don't seem to do that well (Gettr, Mike Lindell's website, Parler). And now it effectively looks like leftoid alt tech -
