"A fifth of Americans 50 and up have no retirement savings"

And my mother in law is one of them. But I'm not worried. Because she's going to "think of something."

The 'peak boomer' crisis might only get worse: A fifth of Americans 50 and up have no retirement savings, and the majority are worried they won't have enough money
      from Madison Hoff
Many Americans headed toward retirement don't have the funds. It could contribute to the peak boomer crisis.

@greenzeta when the motherfuckers that run this country create hyperinflation before I can cash out my investments, what's the difference between saving and not

@sun I don't see the context, but SocSec will likely run out of funds relatively soon (by design; as population peaks and begins to decline there are fewer workers contributing; the fund's money has been spent as it came in).

That's another reason I advocate the government raising taxes and paying for almost everything up front. For one thing, this will generate discussion about where funds get spent and make congressionals more sensitive to people's concerns. For another, the younger people are, the more likely they will get screwed by run-away spending.
