atlas_core: self-hosted edition (atlas@thonkbox.rightmouse.click)'s status on Monday, 22-Apr-2024 05:35:20 JST atlas_core: self-hosted edition It's getting a bit nerve-wracking to self host stuff, but on the other hand I'm unsure if there's a better home for my presence.
Starnix seemed fine, but it seems people are peeved not at what actually happens, but by the fact that there is no overarching moderation in case of mild annoyances (that some could call harassment). I'm not there because "free zpeech my politic oponion!!!" as much as just to be in a place with no general topic or obligations.-

Eric Zhang 2: Episode 1 (eric@pl.starnix.network)'s status on Monday, 22-Apr-2024 23:04:25 JST Eric Zhang 2: Episode 1 @atlas It is impossible to post something on the Internet and no one gets offended by it. People will get petty about everything. And look, Starnix has moderation. There is a reasonable of instances and users VAC banned here.

atlas_core: self-hosted edition (atlas@thonkbox.rightmouse.click)'s status on Monday, 22-Apr-2024 23:04:26 JST atlas_core: self-hosted edition @eric I think what offends people is the way the instance essentially says "in case people get harassed, we trust they will use necessary tools to stifle these actions"; people perceive it as "We don't care, sort it out yourself." (so it's free speech?!!!!!!)
I personally agree with it as it allows the user to decide with their sufficient tools (block, mute, so on) and not a dogmatic presence, though it's understandable (even if disagreeable) that people want more moderation intervention.
Is that enough to disallow innocent folks caught in the crossfire from communicating to one another, I really don't think so; haven't we had enough world wars in the past five years to prove that citizens just want to live and the problem is with their governments? Why not use that analogy to say and understand the users of an instance just want to have fun regardless of their administrator(s)?Pleroma-tan repeated this. -
