Sad to see Post.news shutting down. They had adding ActivtyPub support on their roadmap but the company did not survive long enough to get there.
I'm convinced that any new social player HAS to be Fediverse enabled from the start to have a chance at this point.

Wonder if something could be done to quickly help on board post news users to the Fediverse?
They are allowing users to download their data from post.news….maybe something to help rebuild a social graph here?

#Flipboard seems to be doing a pretty good job of easing into federation slowly. I think they had an established product and market first, though.

@Radgryd Easy to claim a counter-factual, but I suspect if it was also open and fully federating from the start, I think it would have seen enough social engagement to survive.

@tchambers Ah, I actually liked the idea of Post, but it never really made sense to me to have my own profile there. It was more of a reader-reading-a-newspaper type of social media, and it didn't make sense to post anything myself.
