When I think about it, I find it quite amusing that instances become unmaintainable after some time — it's very easy to make a new one and carry stuff over, but admin often get exhausted carrying out their duties and want to retire — it's like a natural order of things. No biggie even in this case, if there's someone who can pick the flag up and carry it on.
Centralised services like Twitter on the other hand… There's no life in them left, they are like cadavers — they hate themselves and want to die, but their owners don't want that, they keep pumping them full of drugs and striking them with electricity in attempts to bring them back to life — make it move again, even a little. They want to keep milking the worms that took a liking living inside that body.
