@jimmybuffettfanaccount @William_The_Dragonborn Bluey is a rare treasure of a show. My whole family likes it, even the wife and I, and there's even a positive portrayal of the father and quality moral lessons (at least in the first season). This makes me sad, because I thought there was a single piece of modern Western media that wasn't overly pozzed.

@Reluctant_Weeb @BowsacNoodle @William_The_Dragonborn well sure I’m not assessing it as something for me to watch, I’m talking about it as a thing for little kids. the childless adults who watch it for themselves are freaks.

It's also that kind of toddler slop that completely fails to hold anyone who possesses higher brain function's attention.

@BowsacNoodle @William_The_Dragonborn I’ve seen a bit of Bluey, family members have thrown it on for the kids when I’ve been around, and it always made me sick to my stomach. For a while I tried to figure out why: ”mom and dad are different colors, is this supposed to be a race mixing thing?” I thought, but no that’s overthinking it, it’s just cartoon language. “is it subversive to have the dad be the nurturer and the mom be the provider, the inverse of historical norms?” maybe a little bit but that’s hardly a terrible crime when the norm for zog media is total denigration of the father. I eventually decided that it really is (or now was) a wholesome show, but I still hated it, because, like a stepdad that comes home and beats his wife and stepchildren every night, zog media, ESPECIALLY animation and ESPECIALLY animation for children has been so bad for so long that I can’t feel anything positive even when it’s good, like the one day in months when the stepfather comes home bringing flowers for the wife and presents for the children instead of beating them black and blue. am I supposed to be impressed?

@Reluctant_Weeb @William_The_Dragonborn @jimmybuffettfanaccount It's not that at all. I'll clip an episode later and post it to prove my point.

@Tadano @William_The_Dragonborn Bluey is a children's show. I have seen ¾ of season 1 with my kids. The only "adult jokes" in it have been stuff that's directed at parents but still funny to kids, and NOT in a Shrek type way. The Chinese Takeaway episode perfectly shows the struggle of taking kids for basic activities that require a bit of waiting. The kids laughed at it, and Mrs. Noodle and I laughed for different reasons.

@BowsacNoodle @William_The_Dragonborn It was only a matter of time before this happened to the most astroturfed "kid's show for adults" ever :marisa:
Anyway if you need to put on any television for the kids play stuff like Tintin or Indiana Jones Chronicles.

@Tadano @BowsacNoodle @William_The_Dragonborn As a general rule, it's best not to pay for streaming and instead get DVD collections or just download what you need. That way when you get crap like the above, just don't get that season and move them on to something else. Old shows are always better though, because they don't have any of that.

@Tadano @William_The_Dragonborn Astroturfed implies artificial popularity. The show became popular because it's fun and actually acceptable morality without showing an impotent useless father or pushing overt garbage narratives. Until now. I guess we'll see.

@BowsacNoodle @William_The_Dragonborn It's not astroturfed for adults on Anim*niacs grounds, rather it's astroturfed on heckin wholesome chungus this is so deep and mature guys grounds.

@Reluctant_Weeb @Tadano @William_The_Dragonborn Wonderful contrarian take about a child's show. Reminds me of when my 40 year old friend started sperging about how much he hated Justin Beiber. I have children, so I care about children's media. Anything that's at least neutral or better is great in clown world.

Was watching the old Batman Animated series from the early 90s. Expected to pick out a lot of retard politics now that I am jaded and know their game, and while it is there it is not as in your face as others (Gargoyles).
How old is your larva? Most of it is on youtube under Warner Bros kids.

@Deplorable_Degenerate @Tadano @Reluctant_Weeb @William_The_Dragonborn My children are various ages. Batman would be appropriate for some of them. I don't want them being super into capeshit because it's a rabbit hole for weird garbage. Every form of entertainment and media is being deliberately pozzed. Books are being edited in ugly ways and movies remade to be uglier and more sinister.

Definitely something to be aware of. Was just thinking about how they made Harley and Poison Ivy dykes which in the context of their original relationship (Pam's a rabid feminist and Harley has Stockholm syndrome) was more a friendship of foils to keep the other from doing stupid shit.
