djsumdog (djsumdog@djsumdog.com)'s status on Saturday, 13-Apr-2024 16:57:21 JST djsumdog It just feels like a massive cope. I literally workout less now that I'm with a fully remote company (no offices at all). There was something about getting on your bike and riding with all those other people; the wind in your hair. It's easy to go to the gym because I'm already out there. My shoes are already in my backpack.
In other jobs, even when I didn't have to, I'd come in twice a week. Sometimes even thrice.
Due to timezones, I can't even cycle to a co-working place unless I want to get up stupid early for some 9am, and sometimes even 8am, meetings.
I honestly don't like it anymore, but I'd also hate to be in the office every day. It does affect moral, motivation and removes a whole lot of balance and work interactions. You also get really self-censored views of people.
I know people who have taken local jobs, taking a huge income hit, to get away from remote work. -

Papa Zulu (pete_zeratt@noauthority.social)'s status on Saturday, 13-Apr-2024 23:50:22 JST Papa Zulu @CrimeaRiver @djsumdog I've worked for the same company for the past 20 years. The last 4 of those have been working from home. There are positive and negatives to both. But the idea that companies just want you to work in the office because they like telling you what to do is some paranoid lefty nonsense.

CrimeaRiver (crimeariver@noauthority.social)'s status on Saturday, 13-Apr-2024 23:50:24 JST CrimeaRiver I work for a transnational company. I'm forced into a building 3x/wk to work among people who I have zero connection with.
It's stupid.
