I do prefer mpv over VLC on Linux. It does seem to have fewer issues .. except if I have an ISO or raw BluRay data .. then VLC seems better at just presenting menus ... and on Windows for the home theater PC, I use VLC .. only because Linux+mpv doesn't support HDR yet. -

@f_o_u_r_t_y @roboneko @dushman @splitshockvirus This time I agree with dush, VLC on Loonix has many problems that have been there for months and years. Zombie processes, decoding problems, crashes while MPV just works. Granted it has basically no UI and everything is done with keyboard shortcuts, but there are many frontends for it. -

@dushman @splitshockvirus what issues? they've both always worked flawlessly for me. only major difference seems to be the UI which is down to context and personal preference -

Also back to what that meme was about, mpv is so much better than VLC tbh. Way less issues and it runs quite a bit lighter. -

The UI is terrible on transmission. qbittorrent does that much better and it has built in searching with plugins you can install for each tracker you wanna search. -

@djsumdog VLC by default seems to be compiled to run the proprietary software located in bluray menus, which I would call an antifeature really - mpv not running such proprietary software is arguably a feature.
