     @BowsacNoodle @SuperLutheran @lks My mom's family went to a maronite church so I grew up with a lot of that art (sorry, heretical iconography) in my home and my appreciation for the aesthetic stuck

I'm reading a book right now called The Great Game about the English and Russian proxy war for central asia in the 1800s and I just got to an account of a british officer showing a muslim ruler he wasn't a "icon worshipping pagan" by showing he wore a cross and not a crucifix, unlike the dirty russian orthodox and I thought that was funny

     @DEERBLOOD @SuperLutheran @lks FWIW I wear a cross myself. The crucifix is cool too, but Christ is no longer on the cross. To me, it's fine to have either.

     @branman65 @DEERBLOOD @SuperLutheran @lks Christ is called The New Adam in a lot of Christian writings and apologetics, and there's iconography showing him visiting Adam and Eve in the afterlife and freeing them from their tombs. I assume that's a reference to both of those. Tons of skulls in old Christian stuff though.
