   I need to watch #Netflix #ThreeBody to be sure, but I probably wouldn't due to the butchering of Ye Wenjie's character. But I am so annoyed that a story that is told from a very Chinese perspective, with the nuance needed for China's turbulent past, has been subverted to make a political statement to fit the Western lens.
   Too much to go into here, but this is why I do not trust adaptations of foreign IPs .. the need to dumb them down and Anglicize them for "general" consumption.

     @oceaniceternity yes exactly. I may not agree with it but it is fascinating to watch it. I liked the Tencent version because of how subtly and nuanced it portrayed the Cultural Revolution - that it was both a horrifying and inspiring time, and Ye Wenjie's character being shaped by that time.

     @liztai I haven't watched it either. But... Hearing about it is really saddening. Because what really appealed to me when reading the three body problem was the sense of wonder at seeing the world through a very very different lense to what I know.

     @cynblogger can't believe they replaced Wang Miao either lol. Just so many things I can't accept in the Netflix adaptation lol

     @Nyme there is now a director's cut that is about 26 EPs. It is generally acknowledged that the first 10 EPs are rather plodding so this is a good change. You can download WeTV app to watch that I think. Hmm other sci fi could be Wandering Earth. There are others but I am not sure if you would like them - 19th life, Bionic Life.

     @liztai I saw your post after i watched the Netflix version. Now i have to watch the Tencent version…. It has 30 Episodes?! I love it already! I feel like Korean(Sci-Fi) Shows had there break through in Germany/Europe already but there is not much Chinese TV Shows/Movies. What else should i check out besides Three-Body?
