    @dansup

    Yeah, well, just saw the damnedest thing scroll by

    @pixelfed is now pushing Zuckerberg as the most-followed Fediverse account, with Mosseri as third, here:

    "Popular Fediverse Accounts

    The most popular accounts across the fediverse"

    https://fedidb.org/popular-fediverse-accounts

    which seems to be brand new

    Is FediDB actually run by Gargron?

    May have to re-evaluate how seriously I take that data...

      @dansup I think implementing user blocks is definitely the way. The hardliners that don't want Meta to enter the fediverse are never going to win out in the long run. If Meta wants to join the fediverse, they will. They have too big of a user base for that not to happen. And right or wrong, the people against it are fighting a losing battle. Better in my opinion to figure out how to live alongside Meta's presence here.

      @dansup

      Oh yeah, I get it now

      If we're not hard-core coder bros, we're just consumers and we get to sit down and shut up and just keep consuming what ever's fed us

      Got it

      And please: by all means, keep waiting

      @dansup That dude seems unnecessarily angry about everything. Not worth it.

      @FinchHaven @pixelfed yeah, since 2016, what have you done for the fediverse since we're collecting receipts?

      I'll wait...

      @dansup I'm really stumped by this whole thing. So many people who championed open standards are very very angry that a big company is starting to use them. I'm not a huge fan of Meta in general, but Mosseri seems to be legit in his push to make Threads a part of the fediverse. Some people I chat with assume this must be a secret plan to crush the fediverse… but it just doesn't make sense to me. Threads is putting a lot of eng effort into this, and fedi really isn't all that big!
