Stanford (tfunken@social.lyratris.com)'s status on Wednesday, 20-Mar-2024 02:04:44 JST Stanford @Jain i guess the comparison is not entirely fair, considering mastodon.de is hosted in a datacenter and blob.cat in your homelab.
Technically you are already spending 60 Euro just for the internet connection, nothing else included :neocat_laugh_nervous:

Stanford (tfunken@social.lyratris.com)'s status on Wednesday, 20-Mar-2024 02:09:28 JST Stanford @Jain blob.cat runs on a IP address for a home fiber connection from init7.
Can't really imagine why anyone would put a reverse proxy on a home connection (even tho it's a fiber one) :neocat_laugh_nervous:
Also was just about to write that I prefer the homelab over jet another Hetzner instance :neocat_sad: :neocat_laugh_nervous:

Poppy (Back from tha dead) :neofox_flag_trans: (radmin@limepeeps.perchinup.top)'s status on Wednesday, 20-Mar-2024 06:43:54 JST Poppy (Back from tha dead) :neofox_flag_trans: @Jain@blob.cat @hexaheximal@blob.cat I honestly wish servers like https://cdrom.tokyo and https://outerheaven.club were still featured on Pleroma's official site. It was such a good way for new users to just get started with Pleroma (possibly Fedi in general). Plus, they've been grouped by vibe, too, from https://blob.cat and https://cdrom.tokyo being chill to https://cawfee.club and https://shitposter.club being edgy to https://outerheaven.club and https://absturztau.be being comfy. It doesn't pretend that we only like one topic unlike the websites for Firefish and Masto. It recognizes that we have types of people we're most comfortable with.

:blobcathug: (jain@blob.cat)'s status on Wednesday, 20-Mar-2024 06:48:08 JST :blobcathug: @radmin @hexaheximal i agree but not fully. I think of most *oma instances as not beginner friendly but mostly due too way too less active users if someone starts from scratch. I recommend to start on a server with 1k-5k active users and then move to a smaller one. In conversation permalink
