@r@lanodan if anything going for a castle settles most of your early game so you don't have to wonder about how to move next until you have a castle, and it also gives you a more solid position to start from
still hella fun to play though, during this starting period where most people haven't encountered it yet
just tore apart a sikenbisya (left the diagonal open because huribisya players don't really do exchanges and it paid off)
not sure if not being in the syougi wars pokedex is a good thing or not, on one hand not naming it keeps it low key, on the other hand my "artistic points" stat (euphemism for "bruh wtf are those moves") is shooting through the roof
searched youtube again and apparently there's only two kyuukenbisya videos in existence (the first one was a misclick and went back to mukaibisya after)
seems like a forward :sg_g_n: defuses it pretty quickly (i just encountered that as well, retreated back to a sangenbisya) so it'll probably remain as something to catch people off guard instead of developing into a full fledged strat
@forcedinductionretard there's a chance the opponent also opened their edge pawn so if you want to move your own edge pawn further so you can fit your rook behind it'll start the skirmish before you can continue with your positioning
1st file rook is a thing but the rook stays on the starting row behind the pawn instead of moving the central pawn out twice, moving the rook out, moving the edge pawn out twice, then fitting in the rook that's 2 moves compared to 7
@hakui Opening up the right edge and retreating the rook in front of the lance has worked when middle is too dangerous. Heard it helps with endgame, too, but never figured out how.
@hakui I'll consider looking into how to play the central rook better. Putting the rook in front of the castle seems like a reasonable bet so far, but punching through the opponent's defenses is indeed a risky waste of moves.
Having the rook behind pawns tends to be frustrating as well. Maybe starting with cheerful central rook can help with extra mobility early on.
@forcedinductionretard pretty good improvement but i notice you keep moving your rook to the side, in front of the pawns
since pawns only go forward the column is the basic unit of attack, if you're switching columns all the time you lose progress in attacking and you have to start developing the new column again
and it's way harder when the rook is blocking the pawn's path
once it's promoted though you can go wild no problem
