@blogdiva This is probably only half of the story. All those techbro companies have seriously enshittet their products, and can't stand competition anymore (except with each other's totally shit products). So “national security” is the lame bullshit excuse for “please, let us become monopolists”.
When Huawei became too successful, it was also framed as national security concern. Not only the 5G infrastructure, but also their smartphones, which simply can't be one at all.
