  Only idiots didn’t know how SCOTUS was going to rule on that one… it was pretty clear cut in law, and practically if they decided to supersede the safeguard we’d never have a functional executive branch again… assuming the nation didn’t melt down as soon as it was used against the Biden admin.
  You can’t by-pass both the separation of powers and due process for the head of the executive branch – not to mention remove immunity for official acts – and not devolve into a new system of government overnight one way or another.

  if there is only one president then only the current holds the title, while there are multiple generals and so you retain it.

  The party is only half purged, so that’s unlikely for another branch to do anything even with Paul in charge of the Senate. RINOs vote with DNC no matter what – see last Trump term. I’m just being realistic.
  Also conservatives aren’t in the GOP it’s mostly a populist party now. The purse strings already changed hands, so that battle is over. Some incoming knives to the back, sure.

  I have similar issues here in Canada with the right-wing. Especially the evangelical Christian right-wing. They support a lot of the same issues I do, but I absolutely will never make common cause with them because of what they would do should they ever gain any power to speak of.

  You and I have vastly differing experience on this. I've been part of activism on both sides of the isle when it aligns with my values and interests, so I can speak from ample experience that the left and the right wing in Canada are both equally delusional.
  
  Anyway, the right-left moniker originates from the revolutionary French legislature. Right wing originally referred to monarchists and the aristocracy, whereas left-wing applied to everyone else spanning from Communists right though to Laissez-faire Capitalists.
  
  Frankly it's not really the economic theories that irk me the most. Neither is a panacea against the ills they pretend to oppose, but simply a different path to the same ultimate destination. What irks me is putting people in charge of society who can't distinguish between a pseudohistorical fantasy novel, and objective reality. They belong in a padded cell, not public office.

It literally was without equal - the country has set an all time record of length of a growth period between recessions. And he's done it by using protectionism that every expert out there predicted would tank the economy (not only Krugman). As much as I can tell, Trump's protectionism disrupted the worst excesses of the rent-seeking globalism, and thus delivered the goods to the American workers. I would absolutely love a repeat of that, although perhaps conditions had to be right. The debt is now much worse, inflation is much worse.
