    For the last few years I have been really annoyed with companies that advertise so called "Gaming routers". None of them are ever capable of running any games!
    So @manawyrm and I built what I consider to be the first real gaming router.
    It is based on a classic, the TP-Link TL-WDR4900 WLAN router with an AMD Radeon external GPU connected via PCIe and can run GTA.

      To make connection of an eGPU to the router possible one of the WLAN chipsets has been disconected with a small mini PCIe breakout wired up in its place.
      An off-the-shelf mini PCIe to PCIe eGPU adapter can then be plugged into the breakout to interface with a normal desktop GPU.

      @straw @Toble_Miner Turns out those Chinese Celeron boxes were the real gaming routers all along. Only need the miniPCI-e/M.2 breakout without any patches.

      @straw @Toble_Miner Actually, why bother, integrated UHD Graphics 600 is enough for light gaming.

      @Toble_Miner @Reiddragon @manawyrm I was half-expecting just a plain mundane desktop tower (gaming) PC with an added multi-port NIC.

      @Toble_Miner There is a bit of a tradition of hacking PCIe-slots into old wifi routers. (here: 5GHz into a 2.4GHz model)

      @manawyrm @lispi314 @Toble_Miner speaking of which

      since this is a PowerPC computer technically, would it be possible to run some form of AmigaOS on it? maybe AROS (not aware of anything else that's open source)

      @Reiddragon @Toble_Miner @lispi314 There also used to be a Windows NT 4.0 PowerPC edition… #JustSaying 😹

      But yeah, enough time spent on this platform already 🙃

      @manawyrm @Toble_Miner @lispi314 oh right, you mentioned that in the blog post, the floating point part specifically is incompatible with regular PPC

      honestly I can already see how this project would go, you find a thing that needs porting/fixing, you get that done, that just reveals more stuff that needs fixing/porting, and you repeat that for a month just to stop and wonder what you're doing with your life porting AROS to a router jury rigged with a Radeon graphics card

      @Reiddragon @Toble_Miner @lispi314 possible — definitely. Would require a bunch of work though for platform support. Things requiring floating point instructions would probably also break rather harshly (which would be sad because you couldn‘t use existing software).

      Theoretically this platform also supports virtualization, but the floating point problems still persist there :(
