#NATO is solely a defensive pact. It does not invade countries to add to its territories. The new NATO members joined voluntarily.
The #RussianFederation (#RF), by contrast, invades countries using the old fascist pretext of "protecting" ethnic (#Russian) minorities. #Georgia (2x), #Ukraine (2x), always the same old, same old.
If Ukraine wanted, it would be free to join the RF. The majority of the people doesn’t. Many would rather die fighting against the odds

Sought, or been enticed? Regardless, there was no need to expand NATO. If you want a democratic Russia, surrounding a defeated country is hardly conducive to that goal.
We won the cold war.
The USSR is gone.
There's just no threat from Russia as there was. As demonstrated by their poorly executed invasion.

but if you listen to different voices, good for you. I claim no knowledge of history but can point to many invasions of Russia which would justify any concern from any leader of facing NATO more closely than ever.

You know Ukraine had no path to nato membership right? At least not one that was not decades long with no commitment. They were told outright they would not be allowed in. Weapons did not start flowing in in significant quantity and nato membership was never seriously discussed until after russias invasion.

Russia started this war. And did so with the express purpose of eliminating Ukraine. How exactly do you negotiate with that?
If not for Russia there would be no talk right now of Ukraine joining NATO. Ukraine has a right of self defense, and while I don't think nato troops should be involved right now, I do think that ukraine should be admitted immediately and every weapon that can be passed to them by nato allies, should be.

I'd suggest this to be one of the more pointless wars because it could be negotiated. There in fact was a peaceful solution in place at one point.
But Socrates was like a warrior poet or something? I am more familiar with Socratic method, and logic. But no expert.
