   Today I am upgrading a ThinkPad T400 laptop
   
   It had a slow 160GB HDD. Upgrading to a much faster 256GB Transcend SSD.
   
   It had 4GB of PC3-8500S memory. Upgrading to 8GB of PC3-10800S memory.
   
   Note: this T400 model does not accept PC3-12800S memory modules, only 8500 and 10600 speeds.

     @matthew I have a T400 (or related?) from years ago and did similar things. Simply putting the SSD and ram in it took it from mediocre business laptop to well built powerhouse. I should format it and put some type of Linux distro on it, but idk where to start.

     Pop OS is good. Ubuntu is good. Both are fine, especially if you're just starting out with Linux systems. Don't listen to the faggots who screech about their obscure distros. Just find something that works for you.
