    The National's latest "Holyrood Weekly Podcast": STV's Colin McKay asks Anas Sarwar *6 times* if there is anything he disagrees with in the #SNP #Gaza ceasefire motion.

    Sarwar body swerves McKay's question. 6 times. He can't bring himself to acknowledge the SNP motion reflects - almost verbatim - the #OptionalIdentityMark's own conference motion!

    Sarwar has zero influence over the UK leadership, or even his 2 "Scottish" MPs at Westminster.

    But we knew that anyway.

      @Thebratdragon @MadeyeTheCarnaptious @ThyckHyde they can't be, though, because then the whole Nationalist / Unionist, 50:50 story would crumble. They have to be there pretending a vote for them is a vote for the Union, or nothing else they do would make any sense. Voting down SNP motions they clearly agree with being one example

      @MadeyeTheCarnaptious @ThyckHyde Scottish Labour needs to be just that, Scottish, and open to Labour (socialists) whether nationalist or unionist.

      A seperate entity in the same way the SGP is.

      @ThyckHyde

      Scottish Labour is just about in Starmer's peripheral vision but only when he's forced to acknowledge it exists. It must be incredibly frustrating for many party members to be treated with disdain by the Anglo-British control freaks in London to the point that they're simply ignored or overruled.

      It's time Scottish Labour got real, got off its knees and became more than just an #OptionalIdentityMark. Until it does that, it's kidding itself on.

      @MadeyeTheCarnaptious It was clear that the majority of people at the Scottish Labour conference last weekend agreed with the SNP motion. That's when everything changed.

      @Thebratdragon @MadeyeTheCarnaptious @ThyckHyde they're getting themselves ever deeper into that particular conundrum.
      The more Starmer dismisses them and plays to the English Nationalist crowd, he clearly values more, the more likely English Labour will win the next General Election on a pile of policy SLab disagrees with. . Also true is the fact that Starmer's dismissal of Scottish difference, makes a split at some point inevitable. Even SLab must have a limit.

      @CloudyMrs @MadeyeTheCarnaptious @ThyckHyde hence the need for a Scottish Labour, that stands for scottish people, whether nat or union. It would be good for Scotland as well. I have worries on the SNP, being broadly left wing, but it has a nasty tory wing as well, and they are united on a single issue, Nationalism.

      @Thebratdragon @MadeyeTheCarnaptious @ThyckHyde Who funds Scottish Labour? Could they afford to go independent?

      @CloudyMrs @MadeyeTheCarnaptious @ThyckHyde stop taking corporate donations, go back to member and unions, as it was under Corbyn and the richest party in the UK from micodonations.

      @Thebratdragon @MadeyeTheCarnaptious @ThyckHyde I think that might be the crux of it. They'd need to take a risk on losing existing funding, in the expectation that they could make it up some other way.
      When I was a Union member I stipulated that no money from me would go into Labour coffers because I support independence and they do not. Why would that change if SLab went it alone?

      @CloudyMrs @MadeyeTheCarnaptious @ThyckHyde they can't afford not to politically. At the momentthey are landing between 2 stools, support UK (but bad for scotland policies of Starmer) or represent scots but have that over ridden by London Office.

      @Thebratdragon @MadeyeTheCarnaptious @ThyckHyde the only way to escape the "stools" is to vacate the toilet they're currently camped out in.
