@tchambers Help me understand something. If a BlueSky instance appears on an AP federated network via a bridge, why would this be structurally any different than any other AP-based fedi instance that could be defederated if that was an AP admins choice? Or is the main objection really just the idea that the connections are being made with a culture war nemesis?
@shoq@tchambers It's pretty astonishing tbh the lack of understanding of consent and privacy. Very disrespectful framing of the issue too. My understanding is that it is a regular instance like any other whose sole purpose is to scrape private posts back to bluesky. That instance can and should be defederated like any other bad actor imo. As a user I now have to second guess every follow to see if they are one of these parasitic accounts. Fundamentally it subverts the platform.
@shoq@tchambers in my opinion there are some valid concerns about it. For example, what happens when a post is deleted or edited. But my feeling is that many people is afraid just based in misinformation or an idea of rivalry between mastodon/fediverse and bluesky.
