   @sykora @aral I'm not sure Mozilla has ever taken VC money? I mean... It can't even give out shares. Not even sure how that works.

   And again, not a charity.

   Some people will find new jobs internally. Some won't. Firing someone is no worse than -not- hiring the other, more suitable person that you could have hired for the position you placed someone in so you wouldn't have to fire them.

   Also unemployment is still historically low in most of the Global North. Median unemployment 8.3 weeks.

     @fogti @Schouten_B @sykora Mozilla is not a charity. It is a half-billion dollar/year for-profit that uses a not-for-profit for public relations/branding. And it gets most of that half a billion by serving Google and other surveillance capitalists.

     @Schouten_B @sykora @aral btw. Mozilla and formerly OpenAI and other organizations are pretty much as close to charity as companies do (often) get (because profit isn't their main goal, only one of several, at least originally, from my perspective), so that they can't buffer such stuff seems bleak.
