Hey, before I blow 60€ that I can't really afford, does anyone in the EU have a USB or IDE Iomega Zip drive that they don't need?
I'm low on budget but can cover postage!
I'm writing a feature about recovering data from redundant storage media on modern hardware under Linux and need test devices.
The catch? I would really need it this month.

Damn it. I had one I‘d not used for about 20 years. But I took it to the recycling center last summer, because "What am I keeping this for. Nobody is ever going to need it"!

@derickr I'm okay for USB Zip drives now, but thank you for the kind offer.
I'll probably be looking for IDE models for the foreseeable future, but please don't feel you have to go to any special trouble.

@derickr Haha. I already have a small stack of parallel models (and possibly a SCSI one in another box), but they don't lend themselves readily to accessing on modern hardware, hence the quest for USB and IDE models.
(I have anecdotes about the parallel compatibility aspect, but I realised that this reply is probably not the place to unspool my brain in. 😁)

@HauntedOwlbear I think mine is/was a parallel port type, or maybe something silly as SCSI. I honestly haven't even seen the thing for 15 years 😄

@derickr The entire reason I owned one of these drives was because my university insisted that we submitted work of them, for some godsforsaken reason.

Our uni had these IDE models in every computer in practical rooms. It was vastly better to use than 3¼ disks, as they were so unreliable that we used to make 3 copies of all of our work. I doubt they still have them somewhere.
