I love a good argument. In the classroom or in the courtroom.
The last thing I want to do on social media is argue. Granted I'm highly opinionated and post stuff that may be multi-faceted. It can come off as an invitation.
While I'm all for discussion, I'm working on reducing my defense in replies, and now either letting other people have at it or just straight out blocking when it's a professional provocateur or persistently obtuse.
@jwcph Sigh. Fine. Being fined multi millions, having to put liens on his properties, closing down Trump Org aren't consequences, & he wishes they'd take more. 🤦🏻♀️ It's why he focuses on them. It's EVERYthing to him.
Please. (+ 91 counts, 4 court cases)
He HATES this. His entire image is $, this is making him miserable. He's about to be worth nothing. Even his base won't be able to donate enough to cover him.
Oh & your bio: "I'm argumentative"? Not a fan. #Toodles
@GottaLaff@Sandywb@argv_minus_one Also, yes, TFG is formally held to account - but has it come with any actual consequences for him so far?
I mean, he's just going ignore the rulings; he was already a criminal before & saying so won't stop him. He's just going to keep doing what he does until he's fitted for an orange jump suit.
After some reading, I did the same. First #block w/o any prior engagement or racist etc. behavior.
The "argumentative" part in connection with your quote pushed it over the top for me.
He might simply not have known. So much happening in #TFG's cases daily.
I like dialogues. You share. I share. We talk and we both might learn something. Discussions might sometimes be necessary, but not for discussions' sake. Not in my non-work related platforms And even there...
@HistoPol@GottaLaff 👍 But the US justice system works slowly. To force any action would be to risk everything moving forward. Think about the court's decision on whether or not congress could subpoena a his personal records to find out if there was foreign influence.
I agree with everything you say, including "consequences." Oh, getting his fav toys taken away, smashed even, will drive him insane. His biz reputation torn to pieces? Maybe even worse.
If he hadn't been #POTUS, I' be happy about the likely outcome.
But him currently being the most likely next Pres in 2025...no deal. Maximum punishment.
He will be behaving like Dictator #Sulla, if he gets re-elected, puny, vindictive but without...
...Sulla's brains and character, and with the world's still-largest armed forces and the #nuke codes at his disposal.
The #US plutocrats will.back him as long as he's grip on the #GQP. And that has become almost absolutist in the last 4 years. He is a real cult leader with willfully #WinterSoldiers doing his bidding.
The stakes for all of humanity are simply too high.
100% agreed. I have not seen this as a discussion, but a dialogue. 😉
A lot of people read these convos. Possibly sentencing a #US#president to capital punishment will cost more than 90%(?) of the population a long time getting used to.
It's important to repeatetly bring up this possibility that the laws permit.
Just looking at #SetAbramson's PROOF OF...series, I, personally, can only see a mistrial or supermajority #SCOTUS...
...intervention saving him--apart from a win this fall.
He knows he's fighting for his life and that gets painted 🎨 himself into a corner. Like a wild beats, he's extremely angry about the people that have cornered him.
The talk about #SealTeam5 in the courts the other day? I'm sure he relished that idea and is already scheeming how to realize it quickly after inauguration.
And even if it isn't an official military unit, there are 1,000s of vets,...
And, just to be clear, with regard to the punitive goal of a sentence, I am still against the #DeathSentence, even for someone because of whom hundreds of thousands died unnecessarily due to #Covid19, who quite likely sold military secrets to foreign adversaries, etc.
However, there's always the more important part (we can all agree that we can skip the "change his behavior" part, I guess😂,) of ...
@GottaLaff@HistoPol Have you seen what it is like on death row? and if he had the threat hanging over his head each day I say fine. Let him live out his days in fear. I am not normally a vindictive person, but look at the mess he and his group caused..globally.
...saving the public from a potential repetition of his criminal behavior.
His, soon-to-be, 100+ counts of his indictments, and of those in particular the charges of insurrection and the selling of military secrets ca not continue to be a threat.
There are already a lot of parallels b/w him and the #US Nazi story as told by #RachelMaddow in her sensational podcast #Ultra.
To just giblets one example, he's already created #Bedlam:...
