iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Thursday, 08-Feb-2024 07:31:40 JST iced depresso @BitBun not sure. never had a keeb with knobs. i would probably get more mileage out of the pimoroni mod (which removes a knob and adds a tiny finger trackball) but i don't think i will be taking an iron to this one.
i'm thinking about repurposing knob press to turn on a steno layer for plover but i dunno how easy that is to do -

~BitBun~ :bunRetro: (bitbun@raru.re)'s status on Thursday, 08-Feb-2024 09:13:18 JST ~BitBun~ :bunRetro: @icedquinn I tried a steno layer for my current keyboard, but my firmware size was a limiting factor for the build I had.
Always wanted dials with a keyboard, but no clue what I'd use them with. Maybe media vol or zoom?
Anyways, really cool looking keyboard!

iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Thursday, 08-Feb-2024 09:15:19 JST iced depresso @BitBun i'm not sure if it will be a problem with these or not. i know QMK supports it with a flag. i am not sure if Via supports it (i prefer Via, because flashing your keyboard to remap it is :blobcatastonished:)
there is one even smaller (corne) but i don't do anything smol. i might have considered it but they also removed two of the thumb keys and i think if you're shimming off the function and number bars you kinda need those extra shift layers :blobcatterrified:
i hope to build a dactyl this year though. gonna hand build that one. -

~BitBun~ :bunRetro: (bitbun@raru.re)'s status on Thursday, 08-Feb-2024 09:26:58 JST ~BitBun~ :bunRetro: @icedquinn oh yeah, Corne is what I use; here's my layout if you're curious: https://gitlab.com/kalopsio/praxis
I would not mind seeing your layout if you have it in a sharable way when you get your keyboard configured! It's always neat to see what people do layout-wise.
Dactyl is neat, I always wanted something like a keyball39: https://shirogane-lab.net/items/64b8f8693ee3fd0045280190
Maybe someday.

iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Thursday, 08-Feb-2024 09:29:10 JST iced depresso @BitBun bastard makes dactyl keyballs! https://bastardkb.com/
i will probably use a standard qwerty layout, as i never transitioned to dvorak or colemak. i also probably never will do so. (learning a chorded steno input, as is learning colemak, is a huge chore, but steno has a much higher ROI.)
also want to build a lalboard/datahand. but i have to learn how to do component substitution on circuit boards for that :neocat_thonk: -
