@kirby Use DoH. There's literally no way uni networks administrators know about that.

@phnt @m0xEE ah no don't worry this network is properly set up and they block dns requests to a couple names. tried hooking up a debian vm to the network and trying to bypass things by using stuff like doh or whatever and it still wouldn't work.

These kind of filters are usually third party software that is complete garbage. We had one in my high school, which could be bypassed just by going to the target URL, it will get blocked and then you would submit feedback as an incorrect block. Would let you through every time. I don't think they would go through those lengths to block DNS requests to certain names. And if you really wanted, you could set a DNS server to Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1, or Google's 8.8.8.8 for a while, let it resolve the DoH server name and use it like that. At that point, they need packet inspection firewall, which is an almost forgotten hardware now.

Usually it still has to resolve DoH name once in the very beginning and they might intercept that, but I'm not sure they are willing to go such lengths just to prevent students from watching a video of a pig fucking five asian women :marseysmug2:

@phnt @m0xEE even pinging something will result in the network blocking the ping and redirecting it somewhere else.

@kirby @m0xEE Sometimes it's nice to live in a country, which still thinks TLS 1.0 and SSL3 are viable protocols. Not even joking, my high school had a SLES 10 server with patches from 2011 and Novell's NetStorage from the 00's accessible from the Internet with password login going over by default unencrypted connection running until ~2022.
