   I saw this article musing as to why younger generations seems more comfortable with incest storylines than older ones.

   I have my own personal theory and its really that when it comes to sexual content part of the emotional high is about breaking taboos and the more desensitized you are the further you have to push to chase that high.

   Younger generations were exposed to so much het/gay/trans porn so early that its kind of become a little dull. It also doesn't help that being gay/trans and watching porn of the same is not nearly as stigmatized as it used to be.

   If being merely gay is no longer taboo if its perfectly socially acceptable for you to be watching gay porn then you're just not going to get that breaking taboos bonus especially if you have a supportive community.

   So incest is just kind of there still not socially acceptable but under the right conditions can be molded to be morally acceptable.

     @Rasp I think you're exactly right. Society loves pushing norms, at least smaller communities do, just to see what happens.
     What's really interesting is that when you experiment with something, you're not necessarily going to enjoy it. So it's not like a bunch of people tried incest porn, decided it wasn't great, and abandoned the idea. Some people tried it and they liked it, and I think that's interesting. I want to explore not just why anybody bothered, but why they continue to indulge in it, whether that's incest or anything else.
     It's especially interesting to me because I love incest. One of my favorite kinks. Not all incest I'm into, which is another great question. But like none of my family I'm interested in, so I don't know if, given the right opportunity, would I want to engage in incest irl. So I do wonder why people are interested in the specific taboo things they like.
     There's an argument to be made about simulations in fiction of things that would be bad, or considered bad, irl, but is perfectly fine in the space of fiction (or not). Like, committing mass murder in a game like GTA is normal. But something like lolisho is very much not, and like you said, part of that is because we've had time to acclimate to the former but not the latter. There was a time when violence in video games was considered taboo and abhorrent.

     @Rasp Incest is bad for biological reasons.
     If offspring of an incestuous relationship is produced, it's risk of genetic diseases is highly enhanced.

     @carl that's distinctly not true. I've murdered millions of human beings in video games but I'd never do something like that in real life. There is a MASSIVE wall between reality and fiction.

     @Rasp Fantasy has a tendency to become reality. This is dangerous.
     But we do not need to agree on this.
