   @thomasfuchs May not be helpful for your needs depending on specifics, but whenever I need to run WinXP software (fairly often for a previous work project) I used virtualization via UTM. Never tested out how well it does USB passthrough from a host computer, but it's incredible how well it works. Even works great on an iPad.

     I've got an ThinkPad X200 (core2duo) that still works (Fedora) but ran XP wonderfully back in the day.

     @thomasfuchs I love the Dell Inspiron mid-late 00's models for XP. Popular enough to get for reasonable prices and to have most drivers saved.

     An Inspiron 9300 in particular is my goto.

     @thomasfuchs The Dell D620 / D630 is practically indestructible, highly serviceable, and is one of the most modern laptops than ran XP from the factory.
