Okay, for those using #Android, here's a chance to name your favourite nifty little apps that folks might not know about. Go for it! I for one am interested (but I'm sure others will be too!)

- Syncthing for sharing files among devices (without need for a server, because it's peer-to-peer)

- Markor for Markdown notes (great in combination with Syncthing e.g. for diaries)
https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.gsantner.markor/
- VLC -- for playing/streaming any kind of media
https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.videolan.vlc/
- KOReader -- best ebook reader
https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.koreader.launcher.fdroid/
- Imagepipe -- crop and remove meta data of images before sharing
https://f-droid.org/en/packages/de.kaffeemitkoffein.imagepipe/
What's still missing: A foss mobile äpp for viewing PDF and making PDF annotations.

GNU Too (gnu2@gnusocial.jp)'s status on Sunday, 04-Feb-2024 14:21:07 JST GNU Too @MediaActivist web Video caster. Play video from anywhere on to your Roku TV. First downloaded it to watch #cricket on a sketchy website and now I use it practically every day. Jay Baker likes this. -

rateexportpilot (rateexportpilot@infosec.exchange)'s status on Sunday, 04-Feb-2024 19:05:56 JST rateexportpilot @MediaActivist shortyz is a great crossword app on android that I don't think is available on iOS.
Also, the PO Pixel from Teenage Engineering is a lot of fun if you have an eligible Pixel device. It's basically the PO-33 in an app with a fun video editor. Seriously, this thing is a blast.

Erik Riffle (he/him) (erikriffle@mastodon.social)'s status on Sunday, 04-Feb-2024 19:09:24 JST Erik Riffle (he/him) @MediaActivist very niche, but it's come in handy for me a few times. Limbo x86 lets you install a full Windows XP or Windows 7 (among others) operating system with actual install files and run as a full Windows computer inside the app. Lets me run windows-only programs on my phone when I need them without booting up my actual computer. Runs slow obviously, but does what I need it to do.
