I don't like the browser, but Brave will still be able to I believe, since they change it on a deeper level in the code (I don't understand it, I just heard about it on YT)

@kaia @bartholin i doubt it... That would mean that 1. Brave has to undo the API Changes and have to maintain it which is a lot lot work and 2. Gorhill need to keep the chromium support just for Brave

@mischievoustomato @kaia @bartholin Yes, brave has implemented their own ad blocker, no its not fully compatible.

Beside that, did you know that chromium never implemented certain javascript APIs which defacto prevents you from blocking inline javascript?
      See for more details:

@phnt @kaia Edge as default browser? You're going to have a hell of a hard time:
      - barely a way to have a "default" browser as there's no desktop environment
      - doesn't have a musl version and gentoo doesn't compiles it from source (if that's even properly available)
      - depends on dbus, that's denied
      - X11? Not on my laptop
      - good luck finding how to accept binary executables in packages
      …

@romin @Jain @kaia @bartholin Microsoft Edge is the browser for me. It removes all the Google spyware, is stable, comes built into Windows and has excellent anti-tracking and quality of life features. You can also get discounts for your favourite e-shops directly in your browser without harmful third-party addons. You can even use your favourite extensions from the Microsoft store and other Chromium stores!

I recommend downloading Microsoft Edge right now if you haven’t already: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge

ublock origin has a lite version prepared for v3 and its breaking things in multiple ways...
There is a list on reddit with sources for the following claims:
      - Filter lists update only when the extension updates (no fetching up to date lists from servers)
      - Many filters are dropped at conversion time due to MV3's limited filter syntax
      - No crafting your own filters (thus no element picker)
      - No strict-blocked pages
      - No per-site switches
      - No dynamic filtering
      - No importing external lists

@mischievoustomato @Jain @kaia @bartholin MV3 allows ad blocking to some extent, with a limited number of URLs the extension can manipulate. While this isn't really a breaking update, ad blockers aren't ready for this yet.

You could workaround this by having a database of URLs to block customized to most webpages and use the most blocked URLs for others. The question is: How do you create such DB without spying on users and the URLs they connect to on every webpage?
