lotr was always relevant because everyone in every fantasy media ever took so much from him and so everyone analyzed fantasy (books, games, whatever) in light of him, and that is still the case
so no, lotr was not relegated to weird intellectuals when the movies came out-

I see people reference how they approached film making as it was ground breaking at the time and that we can still learn from it now. -

It's not fair for me to talk about what I recall since it wasn't that long ago that I watched. And I've read the books now too. At some point I need to re-read them. Maybe I'll get to when I have children of my own to read to.Sexy Moon likes this.
