     @liztai I'm puzzled by this too. Men weren't nominated instead of women. It was nominated for best picture and best supporting actor and best supporting actress. People are upset that the director and lead actress were not nominated. However, they are up for nominations in other categories. Storm in a teacup, it seems to me, and a chance to shout It must be the patriarchy!

     @liztai I don’t get why the Oscars is always so important to people in terms of social issues to begin with

     It’s a grandiose party for the extremely privileged, rich and famous, who are so incredibly far removed from reality, and also an industry that has protected the likes of Weinstein and Epstein over the years... I gotta be honest, what *those* people think is not the top of my priority list.
