   My Asus VW202 monitor that I bought brand new in 2007 has unfortunately decided that it was time to die.
   
   Thank you for your nearly 17 years of service, considering I spend almost every waking moment of my life behind my computer it probably had a running time of over 50k hours.
   
   F to pay respects 🫡
   
   
   Or actually I might try to repair this thing tomorrow, maybe it's just a bad capacitor 🤔

     Maybe I should let it rest and not perform necromancy on it.
     
     I see that IPS monitors with >=144hz refresh rates can be had for less than 150 euro nowadays...

     @jxself@mastodon.social idk, even if I fix it I still end up with a completely washed out monitor with bearable readable text.
     
     An estimated 50k hours burning time doesn't do these old TN panels any favors.

     @zentinel17@masto.ai Oh don't worry. I don't like super high resolutions anyway, the text gets too small on those anyway. I always prefer high refresh rates over high resolutions.

     Don't make it too big of a resolution. It might pressure you into a new GPU to support your new resolution.

     @Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com Yeah high res isn't that impressive. Even my X200 can output 4k@30fps on display port using the docking station which surprised me.
