@peterbrown @servelan @jbond @bobjmsn @ScottishGreens I would rather not feel like I was on the frontier of something. I'd prefer to get something off the shelf. That's where the government should be acting. They should be creating the shelf where people can just go and browse without needing to do degree level research first.

    I've been meaning to write up my experience of getting a heat pump all year, and have finally carved out time to do so: https://greenallianceblog.org.uk/2023/12/22/my-heat-pump-a-personal-story-about-a-broken-heating-industry/ It's part personal story, part policy take on what it'd take to make heat pumps the default for all home heating. The short version is: heat pumps are great! Mine heats my not-very-efficient Victorian house well and is cheaper than gas heating. But I got lucky with an innovative installer - a rarity. The home heating industry needs a big shake up.

It's all very easy and anyone trying to point out thst it really isn't, must just be either lazy or obstructive. It's all possible, but it gets harder if you're skint, time poor, sick or share a house with anyone with a disability. Don't pretend it's an easy fix. It isn't.
