@scubbo That doesn't matter, if you choose a service to do something you should do at least a minimum of research about who runs it and what its history is like.
Especially if it's something you want to use to share things with others.
If you don't do that--well, you're completely oblivious.

@ucblockhead I don't expect anyone to follow this crap all day long, but I'm sure they read reviews for restaurants, and stuff on Amazon and movies and whatever else... why do people not do this for online services?
If I google "substack" this is right on the front page

@thomasfuchs It can be hard for people not plugged into social networks to know who the shitheads are. When I think about people like my wife or my step-father, both people who have the potential ability to blog, and read other people's blogs, neither would have any clue about the Substack drama and would only have a vague notion of what Substack is.
It's so easy to imagine them deciding to blog, googling for blogging platforms, and landing on Substack, as you say, completely oblivious.
