@deebloo I'd actually love to learn to use a lever machine, but my partners are going to want frothy milk beverages, too, so I need machinery for that.
@M0YNG@deebloo This one is on the top of my list, actually! If I can operate it fully manually, I'd consider it. Steam and electronics is a recipe for a part burning out, and I don't want to lose manual operation when that happens.
@roadriverrail@deebloo I've literally just bought (it's somewhere between the seller and me right now) a "SAGE the Barista Pro"
I think it does everything I need/want. Will do manual shots (but can be programmed) Has decent grinder Can froth milk Can be had for not stupid money if you get a refurb unit.
@aardrian@deebloo Actually, it's useful to consider all my options, so I certainly wouldn't ignore you. Yes, the stove and the coffee station are across the kitchen from one another, and there are some inefficiencies in firing up two heating elements to achieve the same thing, but a setup like that does optimize for other factors, so it's good to know it's possible.
@M0YNG@deebloo I mean, if the electronic control is just for fire-and-forget operations and I can do everything manually without it, it's fine. I'm leery of electronic control because I just lost an electric kettle that way. Steam and/or hot water got into the electronic temperature control circuit and killed it. Had it been a basic thermostat, I might have been able to fix it myself.
@roadriverrail@deebloo maybe a bambino then? Not the plus, so you don't have steam. But they you also/still need a grinder.
I have a small electronic milk frother and heater that does a pretty good job for two button presses. Not as fancy as proper steaming, but also no risk of causing failure in other equipment.
