   One of the problems with tech layoffs is the perception that it’s the poor performers being let go.

   However the Cloudflare situation where a laid off salesperson posted a layoff video that went viral only for the CEO to confirm they were a poor performer is the worst possible outcome.

     @carnage4life Also, it's long been an open secret in tech that management has no clue how to measure performance accurately, systematically, and unbiased. They basically just throw process and numbers on top of their preexisting beliefs to launder their biases.

     @JessTheUnstill @carnage4life I guess with sales though the metrics are pretty unambiguous, (even if they result in misaligned incentives)?

     Not really. Who gets assigned to which account, who gets approval for what discount percentage, who gets the most support from the TAMs, plus the bias and bigotry of the customers...
