     @ellane It's one PR disaster after another. I pity them (speaking as a former government comms person who had to craft messages to an angry public eager to crucify my agency at every opportunity.)

     Substack is becoming increasingly walled garden and the Notes feature is so distracting and I had a super unpleasant experience on it when a well-known author decided to misquote me and use me as an example for something I didn't ask for. I will use it as a tool but am distancing myself from Notes.

     @liztai I'm not sure what to think about this. Uh, well done? But a bit too late. They had time to investigate fully before making that public statement.

     I could so easily stay with Substack, especially now that they've wiped their nose, but as you've expressed in the past it's just a bit icky. Their Notes would have been a killer feature (maybe) if it had been ActivityPub compatible, and not just closed shop.

     Don't fence me in, peeps.

     @ellane I'm sort of mirroring my content to my website, so if I move it'll be relatively easy. Just need to download list and transfer. I hope anyway haha

     @liztai It's really hard to beat as a tool you don't have to pay for up front. (It's going to be a lot of work for me to move, no idea how long it will take.) I hope it keeps working out for you.

     @liztai My thoughts exactly. I mean, don't get me wrong, I find all of this morally reprehensible and I cancelled all my substack stuff. But that is not at odds with the team leader inside of me screaming into the void every time I see some PR text of them and asking why why why why you thought this was good idea for a press release why why why
