The more I experiment with #Mastodon and #ActivityPub more broadly, the more I am convinced that it’s possible to build a #Patreon replacement on the #Fediverse
Patreon is a closed platform, but it’s a key tool for many content creators to make a living out of their work: writers, video makers, podcasters, and so on
A Fediverse alternative would basically bridges a payment system with tiered access based on payment status
Even with #Zapier, I think it could already be done!

In another comment you said it's a big no, but I guess you might still be interested in the protocol extensions that were developed to enable this type of application. Many communities haven’t moved to #Mastodon — and many will never move. This could be an issue, as you may need some form of critical mass of users for such a tool to make sense.
But with the rapid expansion of the #Fediverse, especially with #Threads, this question will soon be solved
Instead of pitching “subscribe to my Patreon to fund my work” and sending people to another, completely different and siloed app, people would basically be able to access private posts everywhere.
