@djsumdog@meso@dmoren >my dad had an a2 jetta >nothing went wrong until we ended up in a crash caused by a drunk driver and totaled it >bought a b3 passat >literally nothing went wrong until he stopped having enough time to maintain it, and even then all that went wrong is the exhaust system getting too old either americans are just trying to psyop people into thinking old german cars suck, or they unironically got trolled by VAG and other manufacturers and given lower quality cars because nobody likes america
I had an Audi A4 turbo wagon once; blew up in the desert. Full compression loss; ended up selling it for scrap. I've had to drive a friend's Golf a bunch too and noted some of the janky crap on it he should fix and he told me his girlfriend's Jetta had the same issues .. "They're all like that.."
German cars are absolute clustermine garbage. They have shit design, important shit always breaks, parts are insanely expensive ...
Maybe I just had really bad luck with every German car I've driven :blobcatgooglyshrug:
Glad you had better luck than me. I've got a Subaru WRX now (2nd one I've owned) and a Tacoma for when I need a truck. Both of them have been fairly solid (WRX is getting old and needed a new alternator and fuel pump recently). I've thought about selling the WRX, but if I did, it would probably get replaced by another WRX 😅
