   Ho @pixelfed and @dansup, my greatest limit in using the new awesome #PixelfedApp is not in the app itself, but in discoverability.

   Even by wandering around #FediDB, I have no way to discover #Pixelfed instances’ users or even their admins.

   I do not know how and where to find new interesting people to follow on Pixelfed.

   Why do not you add the username of the admin of each instance on its main page, as Mastodon does?

     You don't need to follow PixelFed accounts from PixelFed, you can also follow Mastodon etc accounts and they will look and work like PixelFed posts.

     By default it will only show posts with images attached, but you can optionally switch on viewing text-only posts too in the settings menu.

     Here's some tips for how to discover accounts:

     Try following accounts from the photography and art categories of these directories.

     You don't automatically see other users on a server when you follow someone on that server.

     However, if they follow you, then your posts become visible to other people on their server.

     @feditips @pixelfed @dansup My problem is not following, but discovering the people! I would like to explore instances and users, but to do so I need to federate my server with other servers and I can do so only by starting to follow a user, but I do not know any username!

     Agreed. I think this is a feature planned for the future, but I don't know how far along they are with it.

     Having the instance's admin account somewhere would be nice indeed, it's not trivial info to find right now, and having absolutely no idea about the administration makes it harder to decide on an instance.

     You don't need to just follow Pixelfed accounts on Pixelfed.

     If you use a Fediverse directory's art and photography sections, you can get lots of accounts to follow:

     https://fedi.directory and https://communitywiki.org/trunk
     https://fediverse.info/explore/people

     Some of them are Pixelfed, some are Mastodon etc, but it doesn't matter because they will all look and work as if they were Pixelfed when viewed from your server.
