     @skylar @tyler @poastoak MDF is so good for very specific uses and otherwise an abomination that shouldn't have ever been created. Want to build a system of cubbies or shelves in a closet that will take basically zero finish work? MDF/Melamine board. Want to build a heavy bedframe? Plywood and MDF. I used it for a a workbench surface and mixed up a protective layer with wood glue and alcohol.

     @BowsacNoodle @tyler @poastoak i did buy a piece of melamine coated MDF for a backer for an island
     but god it's a horrible material for anything else

     @skylar @tyler @poastoak Dude it is the worst material for so many things but absolutely clutch for the right ones. It's hard to beat it for how straight and true the edges and sides are, and it's the preferred material for concrete countertop pours because of that.
