   The words “Sentient AI” crossed my stream and now I’m annoyed again

   We don’t have AI.

   We have large language model “Chinese Room” systems. They aren’t intelligent, aren’t capable of intelligence, and its an entirely 100% fake market. They represent a step backwards in the development of thinking machines, because they are going in the exact opposite direction to get to actual AI. It’s a school of charlatans.

   It’s annoying.

     See my reply further on the thread. Basically the large language models/LLMs are only going to rearrange and regurgitate existing solutions and documentation. If you ask it for programming solutions that aren't trivial, most of the code is wrong, and takes more time to debug or clean up than just writing it from scratch.

     @shebang Are you saying this because the programs don’t inheritly know why they get to their conclusions and are sometimes results aren’t even replicable?
