You can talk about the advantages of federation and the both ideological and technological considerations involved without telling people things that are patently untrue.
#ActivityPub is _not_ easy to implement and we severely mislead people by telling them that it is.
There are _not_ good, general libraries for it
Implementing AP does _not_ mean that you can now federate with anyone using it
I'm not sure whether people's insistence of these is naïveté, wishful thinking, or outright lying.
@hrefna I think @ernest may be building out some php libraries in his #kbin php server work too. Keeping my eyes open for any that may have promise. From your vantage point, is there one language for server libraries that would be more strategic than the others?
@tchambers @hrefna @ernest there's also pubkit from @dansup iirc
@thisismissem @hrefna @ernest @dansup Will check that out 👀
@hrefna @tchambers I would love to hear what you’d consider a “good” library - even if none exist just yet. It would be an amazingly useful guide to follow.
My goal for my own library (Hannibal) is for it to be “good” and “usable.” To get it off the ground, I’ve certainly bent some ActivityPub rules, but I’m focusing on practicality over the W3C spec.
