There was another proposal a few weeks ago for an Amtrak line connected up to Cleveland-Columbus-Cincinnati and Wayne-Columbus-Pittsburgh which I think would connect Columbus to Chicago, Washington DC, and New York which would be pretty cool if that works out

Although you could argue that this idea has theoretical potential, most failure conditions if anything were to go wrong would be generally catastrophic.
Nature abhors a vacuum. Nature has equally strong opinions about vacuum-based systems, too.

@thomasfuchs It was always so obviously a play against public transport and high speed rail and nothing else. But cishet men going to business-speak themselves into all kinds of ridiculous, useless shit because they cannot conceive of a world that isn't entirely constructed of business bullshit. @PJ_Evans @mrpresidenttom @thomasfuchs That's the point: Musk envisioned the Hyperloop as part of a long game to create fear & snuff out investment in CA high speed rail projects so he could advance the use of EV cars instead.
He's admitted this. His megalomania believes he's saving the world. He abstracted the Hyperloop tech for the Boring Company to advance the idea of underground highways, again, to advance EV cars. Not for environmental reasons, but for energy storage on *Mars*. Look it up.
