    It is official, @Vivaldi have included advertisment into your address-bar suggestions. This is opt-out, so it is enabled by default and is triggered only after two characters in your address-bar.

    For me, the address-bar in a browser is like terminal in Linux, what I type is sensitive and should not be cluttered with advert and junk. #Vivaldi crossed a big red line here. Having advert in favorites and quickdial is one thing, having advert in address-bar is another.

      @sumek @Mehrad @smallcircles @Vivaldi I have enjoyed using Floorp - basically Firefox but with many of the nifty features Vivaldi has.

      @sumek
      My daily driver is Firefox, but let's be honest, Firefox suck big time. The biggest issue of Firefox is lack of customizability, especially keybindings. Additionally, Vivaldi brought lots of goodies including tiling, stacking, side panel, auto reload, etc.

      Overall Vivaldi would have been my first choice if it was not based on Chromium. And now this recent type of shenanigans is discouraging me further.

      All browsers are funded by some sort of advert. Firefox's main revenue comes from Google, just by making google the default search engine. They also probably get paid by ebay and others for including them in the search engine list or by adding them to quickdial page.

      Vivaldi is free, user don't need to pay anything. Their revenue model should be very similar to Firefox, Opera, and others, but adding advert to address-bar is a wrong move. Like Ubuntu added Amazon to launcher years ago.

      @MediaActivist @sumek @Mehrad @smallcircles @Vivaldi does it have tab stacks? Tab stacks are pretty much the deal breaker for me.

      @writeblankspace @sumek @Mehrad @smallcircles @Vivaldi Ooh good question. I switched mostly to enjoy a combination of Firefox containers with Vivaldi workspaces, which were crucial for me. @MsDropbear425 might know? This doesn't mention any at first glance: https://floorp.app/en/

      @MsDropbear425 @writeblankspace @sumek @Mehrad @smallcircles @Vivaldi Thanks so much! Ooh workspaces are absolutely crucial for me; my main reason for using Floorp. Though it sounds like Sidebery's tab panels would do the same job anyway? If so, that'll be awesome.

      @MediaActivist @writeblankspace @sumek @Mehrad @smallcircles @Vivaldi Hello 👋

      • Atm #Floorp :floorp: does not have native tab-stacking, but with either of the Add-Ons #TreeStyleTab or #Sidebery you then get superb tab-stacking {& more stuff]. 🎉

      • Atm :floorp: does have native #Workspaces [which are compatible with TST but not S].

      • Atm i use S for tab-stacking AND its tab-panels [which are workspaces by another name], with :floorp: native workspaces disabled [due to the incompatibility i mentioned]. This works brilliantly! I am absolutely loving it. I have all the good stuff that i used in Vivaldi [not ALL Vivaldi's stuff, but the subset which was important to me], & none of the bad aspects, plus the native #Firefox goodies. 🎉🎉

      • Afaik, the :floorp developer/s are working on removing their native workspaces, but deploying native tab-stacking! https://libreddit.lunar.icu/r/Floorp/comments/18f3nzm/workplaces_names/...

      Workspaces will be deprecated in the near future and removed in the future.
      The team is currently developing a Tab Stacking feature to replace Workspaces.

      @MediaActivist @writeblankspace @sumek @Mehrad @smallcircles @Vivaldi I was surprised at the news from the #Floorp Dev, but otoh feel a bit excited to see what they come up with.

      Wrt my remarks about #Sidebery, let me try to help you see what i mean, via these three pics. At the moment i have several dozen tabs open [though many are hibernated atm]. We can create an infinite number of Sidebery "tab panels" [aka workspaces], but for now i use just three, unimaginatively called "Daily", "Soon", & "Later". Ofc you can call them anything you like! The following pics show each of my panels, one at a time, with their array of current tabs [active & hibernated], some as individual tabs, many combined into groups [what Vivaldi calls "tab-stacks"]. I adore the fine granular control Sidebery gives me! 💜
