   I understand licensing vehicles for roads they've built & manage, & can be persuaded re lakes & rivers. But they own and manage wildlife? And nearly all of commerce? Appraisers didn't cause the S&L crisis, and accountants didn't cause the tech bubble or Enron. We were banks & Wall St's fall guys. Doctors & dentists& cosmetologists, lawyers, etc. How many were fall guys from the free market since 1913? You need a license for virtually every business, profession & occupation now. Think about that.

     Me having to do 25 hours of mcle for my law license, and another 35 hours for my brokers license this month.

     @CapitalB I've been thinking of this topic since i was first required to become professionally licensed as a CRE appraiser. We knew who the practitioners of integrity were and SO DID the lenders. The market is not stupid. But then came 2008 and the bailout of the bad apples, one and all. And then came 2020 and you couldn't get a haircut because those practitioners need licenses. Now i think about every licensed business and person. And it's sickening if you take it to heart.

     @ScoWer22 in my recollection there were already clubs/guilds defining and requiring minimal education back in the 1800s around here. The US was indeed wild west XD

     It is something different and outrageous when the county demands 200$ for an allowance/permit to conduct something temporary which is not even touching others/using much common area. I understand that emergency services want to know when a lot of ppl amass somewhere but 200$? No. Too much. 40 - maybe.

     Swiss/German workers with an apprenticeship are demanded across the world. A finished apprenticeship is a "license to wear a title".

     Fire prevention is licenced. The whole world buys and lets build fire prevention by Swiss and German workers. Exactly bc not anybody is allowed to install that around here.

     Many more examples. Doctors. Train conductors. And, yes, Truckers. There is a huge difference in road safety between countries bc of this.

     @CapitalB When the unfettered free market decided who was a pharmacist, the original Rockefeller was selling petroleum drinkables for medicine. If that huckster hadn't found its real uses and unlocked energy potential (actually others did) he might have ended up in jail for killing his customers if they could catch up to him from town to town.

     I love the inclusion and diversity videos. I had to watch one given by a black lady who went on about how Henry Ford stole his employees' ethnic identities by providing them an education and teaching them English, and how that was his intent. I'm not sure what it has to do with law, but I now know Ford bad, Chrystler good. 🙄

     @Humpleupagus @CapitalB What Ford said reported in the papers and magazines was true and he got smeared and labeled an anti-dentite for his efforts. He'd observed the 1907 through 1913 activities and was not stupid.

     I honestly don't know what the real end game is for these woke types. I don't think they know either. What I do know is that the rules only apply when it suit their immediate purposes.
     
     I wish I was there to point out that the people Ford hired were "White," and then ask whether those "White" people were the victims of discrimination and whether their progeny deserve reparations as a result. 🤔

     @Humpleupagus @CapitalB A good friend's father had a union job at the Ford plant in St.Paul. Had to have both his knees done and made it to his 70's but not his 80's I don't think. Could barely still walk in his retirement. Pi$$ed himself down his leg without knowing he was doing it if he drank beer with us while we worked on cars in the garage. The assembly line was no picnic whatever your race. Even now union or not, its repetitive motions are ...painful down the line.

     Brown people today are under the impression that America was always heavily non-White but were just suppressed by racism. In 1910 Chicago & New York were 98% White. By 1940 Chicago was 92% and in 1960 America was 90% White. But we're told America was built by the dirt races?
