@freequaybuoy@TJ1001 I can honestly say that I have never once heard a single real life person even mention small boats in the passing. It's not a topic of conversation. Perhaps "the country" isn't just one country. 🤔
@TJ1001 It's because of this, a large swathe of the country (so large, one may call it rather thick) genuinely believe, are utterly convinced, small boats are why the country is falling apart. Forgetting, entirely, that only a few years ago they were merrily yelling at any and every one Brexit would solve all their problems, and yet somehow have resisted, remarkably, the many, many opportunities to learn just how comprehensively wrong they are about, well, everything.
@Judeet88@TJ1001, the whole thing is a squirrel to distract from the fact that every second TV add is now pushing private healthcare insurance. They don't give a stuff about immigration, but they do care about making money. What do you think their real priorities are?
@freequaybuoy the tories def keep pushing that and I’m open to be criticised, but I will never not be convinced Brexit at its heart was absolutely a racist led outcome. Stopping them bloody foreigners coming over here claiming all them benefits while at the same time taking all our jobs. I genuinely think people have seen that for what it is now and the promised sunlit uplands have turned into rivers of shit. The boats are all the tories have now, if they lose that it’s over
@TJ1001 I agree re your thoughts on Brexit...but I wonder if the obsession with the boats is to distract from the fact that LEGAL immigration has soared and Tories don't want too much attention on that? Their announcement of a huge increase in income before being allowed to come to UK and of deporting or not allowing partners/family of a worker to come is indicative of this.
@TJ1001 Well I sure hope so perhaps the Tory, Brexit voting area where I live is skewing my view. You're certainly right about the state of the country, but I think the great tragedy, as with Brexit, is there are those that still blame it on immigrants despite abundant obvious evidence to the contrary. The Tories still think it's a vote winner, and the tabloids a paper seller.
@freequaybuoy I’m not convinced there a large swathes of the Britain who believe that, we are told there is repeatedly, day and night. People are more concerned about paying the bills than boats, energy costs, food prices, rent and mortgages have nothing to do with ‘the boats’ - people have wised up. This is the same Tory party begging people not to work from home, trying to force people with disabilities to work, because of the 2 million jobs unfilled & loss of tax that brings
